Kids Say the Darndest Things Edition

So this kid of mine who thinks he is so picked on and claims we should just give him up for adoption had this conversation with me this morning:

Me/aka"The meanest Mom": Before you leave for the bus stop at a ridiculously early time, I want you to go down to the basement and pick up all YOUR dirty clothes that are strung ALL over the place and bring them up to the laundry room.

Him: (Stomping off mad & throwing his pencil on the floor says) Why don't you just have me sweep the gutters in Africa while your at it.

WHA...?

Is he serious. Can I actually send him to Africa to sweep gutters. Please anyone with any kind of information about this foreign exchange program please contact me ASAP!

Were you going to wash his dirty clothes for him, and all he had to do was bring them up?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there are no gutters in Africa. No plumbing.

Kids these days. You know, when I was young I had to walk to school in the snow, etc. Break out one of those stories. They are annoying, but they work.

Something like that could only come out of the mouth of Hayden. That's pretty funny.

I think I was washing my own clothes at like the age of 8! That kids lucky you still wash his clothes. I hate doing laundry now. I make my kids fold and out them away.

Is he comparing your downstairs to Africa? Cuz there are some really nice areas of Africa. I just saw Madagascar 2 so I should know.

You don't have to send him all the way to Africa for some hard labor - just across the lake to Springville.

I am laughing so hard!!! Well I do have a connection, my Aunt and Uncle are just leaving for a mission in S. Africa, I am SURE they need some service help to take care of the mission home.

hahahahahahaha!!!! Wow you are a mean mom...it's ok I'm a mean mom too because I didn't help Jackson clean his room that nobody else is ever allowed to go into so it really is all his mess. I'm ok with being a mean mom.

I'm just relieved to know it isn't just my kid that acts like his life is so hard and horrible.

I could send a few of mine to Africa too.

I guess I win in the mean mom department, as poor Erin was doing her own laundry at age 8. Send Hayden over here and within 2 days I'm sure that I can make your mothering seem mighty desirable.

That's awesome! Maybe you can send my kids along with him to Africa... and then maybe they will appreciate bringing their dirty clothes up to get washed:)

For metioned kid is totally grounded. Can you believe the nerve of that kid.

I just had a brilliant idea. Take away all his clothes, except for one outfit. And that one outfit should be purchased from the DI. Make it a doozy.

Parents compare eating in the US to non-eating children in Africa. Maybe in an effort... hmmm... I dunno. It didn't pull at my heart strings. How did you keep a straight face? That's so random and funny, it sounds like something from Whose Line is it Anyway.
